8 lessons from the book "Kaizen" By Sarah Harvey

1. Constant improvement: The key principle of Kaizen is continuous improvement. By making small, incremental changes consistently, you can achieve significant results over time.
2. Focus on solutions: Instead of dwelling on problems and obstacles, Kaizen encourages a focus on finding solutions and taking action to address them.
3. Embrace change: Kaizen teaches that change is inevitable and necessary for growth. By embracing change and being open to new ideas, you can adapt and improve in all areas of your life.
4. Foster a culture of collaboration: Kaizen emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, as well as encouraging open communication and feedback. By working together with others, you can achieve greater results than working alone.
5. Set achievable goals: Kaizen advocates for setting small, achievable goals that can be easily measured and monitored. By doing so, you can track your progress and make adjustments as needed to stay on track.
6. Value the process: Kaizen teaches that the process is just as important as the end result. By focusing on the journey and continually refining your approach, you can improve the quality of your work and achieve better outcomes.
7. Practice mindfulness: Kaizen encourages mindfulness and self-awareness, as well as regular reflection on your actions and progress. By being mindful of your thoughts and behaviors, you can identify areas for improvement and make positive changes.
8. Celebrate successes: It's important to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. By recognizing your progress and successes, you can stay motivated and continue to strive for improvement.

Public Sector productivity, regulation and profound improvement;

Public Sector productivity, regulation and profound improvement;
a special event with John Seddon

Morning of Thursday 21st March 2024, University of the West of Scotland (free to attend)

John Seddon argues that our current method of regulation imposes severe constraints on public sector productivity. He will illustrate the problem with practical examples. John is not arguing for less regulation, but for a profound change to our method of regulation. Drawing on his catalogue of dramatic improvements in public services he will demonstrate the scope for productivity improvement that will be released by rethinking regulation.

John Seddon has received numerous academic awards for his contribution to management science. He won the first Harvard Business Review/ McKinsey Management Innovation Prize for ‘Reinventing Leadership’ in 2010.

Boeing 737 Max Official Is Out as Questions Linger on Mishap (2.22 0222) 0110 2024 "we currently believe we will have to perform rework on about 50 undelivered airplanes," 0205 2024

ABC News

A Boeing supplier notified the company that it had discovered "non-conformance" with the way some holes were drilled in about 50 undelivered 737 jets, the company said.
Some fuselage holes on those planes "may not have been drilled exactly to our requirements," the Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO said.
"While this potential condition is not an immediate flight safety issue and all 737s can continue operating safely, we currently believe we will have to perform rework on about 50 undelivered airplanes," he said.
